I'm sorry, I have no more such setup running. 

I do remember that only /dev/hda and /dev/hda1 etc etc was in the
output. And not /dev/hdc (nor /dev/hdc1, etcetera).

In the .cache file in /etc/lvm the /dev/hdc wasn't filled in.
