Package: dmsetup
Version: 2:1.02.39-1
Severity: normal
*** Please type your report below this line ***
Using a variation of the example table from the dmsetup manpage itself:
echo 0 1028160 linear /dev/hda 0 | sudo dmsetup create test
I get
device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument
Command failed
dmesg:
[410296.722225] device-mapper: table: 253:12: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed
[410296.722246] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table
/dev/hda is a valid block device. I can reproduce the same with /dev/sda
or any other disk device present in the system.
