Regarding 1:
My vgrename(8) manpage gives not only syntactical documentation on how  
to use UUID, but also an example:
"vgrename Zvlifi-Ep3t-e0Ng-U42h-o0ye-KHu1-nl7Ns4 VolGroup00_tmp"
               changes the name of the Volume Group with UUID Zvlifi-Ep3t-e0Ng-
               U42h-o0ye-KHu1-nl7Ns4 to "VolGroup00_tmp".

Also you might want to consider using vgimportclone(8)


Regarding 2:
I'm not sure what you exactly mean here,.. for me however, it works as  
described in the respective manpage.


Can we close this bug?
