Indeed. Reassigning.

I talked with Ben from the kernel team about it on IRC and he even
considers this issue to be of grave severity due to the possibility of
data loss.

JFTR:

I ran into this on Squeeze today, too, with the 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64
flavour from Sun May 6 08:57:29 UTC 2012.

My LVs though were still usable afterwards, so I had no actual data
loss, just much more work to recover the data from the snapshot I
wanted to merge.
