My guess is that they were used by the old debian/scripts/*, since
mime-support is Debian-specific. Still, it might be useful to keep
that dependency since xdg-open can use it if no desktop environment is
available.

It's needed since lyx-common contains some TeX files which needs to be
in TeX's ls-R database. But we can change it to only call texhash if
it's available. If TeX is installed later on, it will run texhash in
its own postinst.
