[Pkg-lyx-devel] For what do we need 03.latex8_counters.dpatch?

Hi all,
I try to find out why and for what we carry those patches in debian/patches/.
Right now I'm looking at patch 03.latex8_counters.dpatch

I've no clue for what we need those additional counters and what they actually do.
I can track this patch back to bug #315459 (hey it's documented in the changelog!)
which talks about a latex8.sty find I can not find.

Do you have any idea what to do with this patch?
