Ok I can finally confirm the problem and it doesn't seem to be the listed
bug in the LyX bugzilla.

It seems to be somehow tuneable because various Qt 3 and Qt 4 programs
get it right. I tried qtractor and qt-designer as an Qt 4 tool.
