This problem has been reported some time ago on the Mac (and fixed), search 
the LyX devel mailing list archives.

I don't think that using rc1 it will make a difference. Maybe Qt 4.3 is not 
as binary compatible to 4.2 as supposed and recompiling against Qt 4.3 
helps?
