I first played a bit around with svn-load but found that to be not really
usefull in the end. So for the moment I've only made local changes to the
created branch and used mergeWithUpstream to build a source package I can
feed to pbuilder.

The only change I noticed so far is that the 'ChangeLog' files are gone.
Taking a look at the former contents I think we should even drop them from
the current trunk. The 'ChangeLog' we include ATM as 'changelog.gz' just
holds a record of the changes in the toplevel source directory so it's
of very limited use to have it in the binary package at all.

Now I'm building with boost 1.35 just to see if it works. So all in
all quite painless so far but I guess it needs some more users to find the
problems. ;)

My package is on http://sven.stormbind.net/debian/lyx16/ if some silent
readers would like to try it.
