Just a few more things.

True, but the LyX Windows installer does install math-related stuff by
default. It might be good to follow this as a recommendation for
recommends (pardon the pun).

I don't think that route is any good at all, so we might as well leave
it out of the picture. It is highly unlikely that Ubuntu will fork LyX
even if there are relatively major disagreements. LyX in Ubuntu
doesn't have that kind of manpower to maintain it.

Thanks. I'll check and post the URL on the Ubuntu bugtracker when I find it.

I might also make you aware that there are some bugs open in the
Ubuntu bugtracker that need forwarding to Debian[1] regarding adding
epstopdf and cm-super, respectively, to recommends.
