I think this could be worth a line in NEWS.Debian.gz, I guess I would
have been tricked by this change if I had problems with my
configuration...
Something like:

Since 1.6.0, LyX keeps its UI configuration under ~/.config/LyX/
User's layouts, modules, templates etc. are still under ~/.lyx/

Maybe a glitch in the upgrade scripts?
