I'm currently preparing 2.0.0rc2, it should hit the archive sometime today
or tomorrow. It would be great if you could check if the problem persists.
If it does please report back so I can add this information in the upstream
bugtracker.

For the final release assertions are disabled by default, so whenever we've
a final 2.0.0 release this issue will be hidden.
