As far as I remember we packaged dvipost back then because of the
overstrike support you need when generating a dvi file out of a
document with change tracking markers. So removing it doesn't
hamper basic dvi support, the dvi support is only incomplete.
I'd have to try out myself what exactly the consequences of removing
it are, but I guess they're minor. So +1 for removing it.
When I used the LyX build-in change tracking support while writing
my papers I never dared to print a document with the change markers.
I always reviewed them one by one on screen.
On the other hand I don't think the mayhem bugs are critical for
tools like dvipost.
