[Pkg-mc-devel] Bug#468683: mc: non-optional visible-whitespace patch undermines usability particulary with Python code

Package: mc
Version: 1:4.6.2~pre1-3
Severity: normal

This version introduced *mandatory* visible whitespace. While this does
come in handy it is very annoying that it cannot be switched off -
particulary for editing, say, Python code. An example:

<TAB>'a string'

renders as:

<-->'a string'

like so:

	'a string'

Note how the ' is nearly drowned by the > even with the light blue on
dark blue.

Please, do prod upstream to provide an option to toggle this behaviour.
