Package: mc
Version: 2:4.6.2~git20080311-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have noticed a problem with extension bindings after last mc update.
The most file types that was opening properly before the update cannot
be opened now (e.g. *.pdf, all images). It seems that the system binding
file (/etc/mc/mc.ext) has started using the fixed applications instead of
some mime-oriented method like run-mailcap. I know that I can modify
bindings on my own but I think this is not good configuration in general.
Everyone has different applications installed and the fixed app names
preconfigured in mc.ext would forbid to open files from mc using default
settings.

It seems that upstream version is using this fixed application names so
maybe only some debian patches was omited or changed.
I believe this is not new feature but only some bug that will be repaired
in the future.

Regards,
Pavel Vejnarek
