It turns out that cons.saver should work on FreeBSD, it's just that we
need to patch it to not only check for FreeBSD, but also accept
FreeBSD_kernel. 

In what concerns the permissions I don't know. Probably one does not
need this on kFreeBSD. 

The biggest issue is that I don't have a kFreeBSD host to test upon with
local console access.

Also is there a way to do something only on non-kFreeBSD?
