Well, Shift+Button in most terminals does exactly what i written.
It copy or paste X clipboard. This is of course hackish, and buggy:
 - copying is only limted to current view
 - when copying also <--> charaters are copied to X clipobard
 - pasting and automatic indentation doesn't mix well.

I know mc supports mouse for selection but
since when mc supports X clipboard directly?
