[Pkg-mc-devel] Bug#599705: sort_order=time in ~/.mc/panels.ini is ignored

For the mc package in lenny and before, when one puts sort_order=time in
the suitable configuration file in ~/.mc/ (or equivalently when one
saves that option from the menus) then a newly started mc sorts files by
modification time in the suitable panel.

This is no longer true in version 4.7.x (mc starts with sorting by name)
in various combinations: lenny [dpkg -i of an old package whose
dependencies are satisfied in lenny] or current squeeze; i386, amd64 or
powerpc; current official debian package or upseteam 4.7.4 compiled from
source (after a apt-get build-dep mc).

The partial workaroud I am using now is

PanelSortOrderByName= alt-n
PanelSortOrderByMTime= alt-m

in ~/.mc/mc.keymap

I suggest that something like that be put in debian's official /etc/mc/mc.keymap

A brutal change that I might consider (for my private use only) is
changing "name" into "time" in the first line with sort_order in setup.c
from mc sourecs, but that workaroud is evidently too brutal and not
sufficiently general.
