Hi!

Aha, this sounds better to me. At least now I know which version you are
talking about. I have to admit that I have never used ~git uploads and
it is possible that this was indeed a bug which was fixed later on, if
4.7.0.9 works fine for you.

Definitively sounds like a bug.

Certainly not, I started maintaining the package only after 4.7.0 was
released.

Well, what would be your suggestion then?

1) As far as I know Debian policy on the subject, bugfixes are not
backported to "stable" unless they affect system security.

2) This versions is 2 years old, and with megabytes of code changed in
the meantime, so just try to imagine how much wasted time it would take
to track down the bugfix in these heaps of commits.

I am now really struggling to find time to get mc's Debian repository
converted to git and release 4.7.5.1 on time, so I definitively can not
afford maintaining 2-years old buggy out-of-vcs snapshots.

If you can track down the patch to fix this bug and know for sure how to
get this into stable I could try to help you in as much as I can.
