I do not intend to stop you in doing something at all - so for the next
Ubuntu release I'd advise to simply do whatever is needed to get the
latest version of mc out.

Thanks.

You mean review the upstream changes or the changes in packaging?

Considering Yuri's mail the pkg-mc team is de facto dead. I just fixed
two problems I considered urgent (see changelog entry for 4.7.0.9-2) but
I joined this list/team rather to see whether the team works and to find
out whether some action is needed. Once I came to the conclusion
(yesterday) I sended out this call for help to clarify the situation.
I personally have a policy to do things either with full effort or just
claim that I can not really help. For mc it is the latter case because
I'm fullfilling other tasks inside Debian (even if mc is one of my most
frequently used programs). What I can definitely offer is to sponsor
the work of others to the Debian mirror, or apply an existing patch for
an *urgent* problem but I will most probably not do usual packaging
tasks.
Kind regards
Andreas.
