Would you care to create an upstream bug report? It is not immediately
clear to me how to solve it properly: i.e. shall a warning appear that
the panel contents have been modified? I think it warrants a discussion
with mc upstream developers.

Title:
  MC deletes the wrong file

Status in “mc” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  My Ubuntu version: 11.10
  Midnight Commander version: 3:4.7.0.9-2

1, Switch off delete confirmation. (Not important, but more dramatic.)

2, Go to a directory with two files: "junk" and "vital".

  3, Outside MC, delete "junk".

4, In MC, press F8 on "junk".

  5, Oops, you've deleted "vital".
