Dear all,

I'm very sorry for this, but my patch for this bug is dangerous and must be unapplied.
Yes, it works well with the default key bindings, but the problem is that a user can modify them!
Then an unpredictable behavior may result.
Just imagine that the user has in his ~/.inputrc:

C-k: kill-whole-line
C-u: "rm -rf * "

(don't try it yourself!)

Sorry again, need to look for a better solution.
