I tried upgrading from the version currently in testing:

jesus:~# dpkg -i mdadm_2.5.2-3_amd64.deb
(Reading database ... 52023 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace mdadm 2.4.1-6 (using mdadm_2.5.2-3_amd64.deb) ...
Stopping RAID arrays...done (1 array(s) stopped).

[That killed an array that I had created and that was currently
building. All attempts to reassemble fail with mdadm: /dev/sda* has
wrong uuid. There's no need to stop the array for an update of mdadm
anyway.]

Unpacking replacement mdadm ...
Setting up mdadm (2.5.2-3) ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/mdadm-raid ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/mdadm ...
I: mdadm: initramfs md hook still present, I thus won't pop the trunk...
Assembling RAID array md0...failed (no devices found).

[See above ... and it was 94% done, too.]

Starting RAID monitoring service: mdadm --monitor.

jesus:~#
jesus:~# dpkg-reconfigure mdadm
Stopping RAID monitoring service: mdadm --monitor.
/var/lib/dpkg/info/mdadm.config: line 41: MAIL_TO: unbound variable

Regards,

C.
