About "e.g." or not, I generally followed MJ's suggestions and
*suggested* maintainers to drop it in favor of an English-only
expression which is, in that case, pretty easy to find (and may seem
less "pedantic").

I think that ">>" could be qualified as "jargon" and not all Debian
users are familiar with jargon (after all, one does not need to know
about the Debian control file sytax to use Debian packages).

In such case, I think that "greater than" or "more recent than" or
"versions above" would be appropriate. I currently suggest the latter.
