Hi,
the same happens to me on sparc hardware. This is the log i get from the
serial port:

file were found.
Failure: failed to assemble all arrays.

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
- Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
- Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/md1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
BusyBox v1.14.2 (Debian 1:1.14.2-2) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
------------------------------------8<------------------------------------
If i now manually execute /scripts/local-top/mdadm, the boot process
continues.
So it looks like the problem is some missing synchronisation between
udev and mdadm.
Thanks,
Jochen
