Bug#784823: Regression - mdadm in jessie will not boot degraded raid1 array

Package: mdadm
Version: 3.3.2-5

This version of mdadm will not boot a degraded RAID1 array with a missing disk.

When booting under the above circumstances, I am dropped to a busybox shell with disk not found message.

I have confirmed this on physical and virtual machines.

This bug appears to be happening to other people. For example:
http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1271945

The wheezy version (3.2.5-5) will boot under these circumstances. Manually installing the wheezy version in Jessie results in creation of a bootable initrd (and successful boot up).

This is a severe error for my usage (being inaccessible hosts with RAID1 disks).

Let me know if I can provide additional information.

Damien
