Bug#832537: mdadm: /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray: fails silently, without any action

I've this bug as well and didn't realize that checkarray wasn't running
for several months.  My workaround was similar, but I changed the whole
system to not use dash (dpkg-reconfigure dash -> select "no").

This is a fairly important bug considering lots of folks rely on
checkarray to be run on a monthly basis.
