Hi!
I've made a trivial 1.5.0 package and tried the upgrade script.
First of all, the php cli is NEEDED for the upgrade script itself...
Then I had big big issues connectiong to the DB, but I'm quite sure this was
because I had made a dirty mediawiki first instalation ..
BTW everythin went well after I solved those issues, and I am acutally running
the 1.5.0.
Could any one try the upgrade path? I can provide with the trivial package if
you'd like, but it is exactly the same as running the upgrade on upstream
tarrball..
My point on all of this is that the upgrade can NOT be automatized for many
reasons. Among those are:
-- A backup is NEEDED and, up to my point this should be done carefully, that
is to say manualy..
-- The upgrade scripts do no claim to be perfect.
-- Some parameters needs to me manualy changed and I feel it difficult and
dangerous to script some substitutions automaticaly.
Then I think the 1.5.0 upgrade should stop its configuration in such a way
that the adminnistrator can backup all its data, manually do the upgrade
dance, and the finish the installation. What do you think of it?
