I'm using unstable packages on my server using testing, so sarge should
not be a problem.

Not yet, read on:
"These things should be fixed by the time 1.5.0 final is released:"

Packaging 1.5.x itself would probably not be so difficult, the upgrade
path is indeed the difficult part, but without a final or nearly final
upgrade path from upstream, there's nothing to work with. They said they
want it done for final release, so we should wait for it. We can still
have a look to changes, but i guess only the SQL part would be tricky.
