Package: mediawiki1.7
Severity: minor

Hi,

There are various problems with the debconf templates of mediawiki1.7.
Here are my comments:

>Template: mediawiki/upgrade-1d4
>Type: note
>_Description: You are upgrading from mediawiki 1.4

You should rephrase this sentence to be in the form of a title, for
example:
  Upgrade from mediawiki 1.4

> This package will install its files in a new location:
> /var/lib/mediawiki1.7

Note that this wrapping has no effect, unless you add a double space at
the beginning of the line.

> Then this is up to you to make the transition of your
> old mediawiki

I'm not sure here, but I think "up to you" means something like
"if you want". Something like "You will then have to make..." may be
better.

> There is no clear upgrade path from upstream authors, so
> prepare for a tricky work and don't forget to backup your
> database and files.

I find this sentence too familiar. I don't think the "from upstream
authors" is needed. I feel it only as a way to say "this is not my
fault if this is hard" :-)
I would rephrase the whole sentence as following:
There is no clear way to upgrade the package. You will therefore have
to do this manually. Do not forget to backup the previous database and
  files.

> Usefull and important notes are provided with this package,
> Please read them deeply before doing anything. They can be
> found there: /usr/share/doc/mediawiki1.7
>
>Template: mediawiki/upgrade-1d5
>Type: boolean
>Default: true
>_Description: Perfrom automatic upgrade from mediawiki1.5?

Perfrom -> Perform.

> You are upgrading from mediawiki1.5.
> .
> This package will install its files in a new location:
> /var/lib/mediawiki1.7

Same thing about the wrapping.

> Then you need to upgrade your old mediawiki1.5

A period is missing at the end of the sentence.

> This package provides a script to do this automatically.
> The script will make a backup of your database, upgrade it, and
> prepare a new configuration file for your new mediawiki. You
> will still be able to use this script later, by calling, as root,
> /usr/share/mediawiki1.7/debian-scripts/upgrade-mediawiki.5

typo: the script is upgrade-mediawiki1.5 (missing 1).

>Template: mediawiki/upgrade-1d5-adminuser
>Type: string
>Default: root
>_Description: Administrative user for mediawiki1.7:
> Please provide a mysql account that has administrative access to your old
> mediawiki1.5 database.
> .
> If you don't know about this, you can give the root user here.

I would rephrase:
If you don't know any account, the root user is sufficient.

> An AdminSettings.php file will be generated with this, and this file be
> be removed if you gave the root account, obviously.

What does "with this" mean here?
I don't think it's so obvious the file will be removed.
There is a typo: "be be" instead of "will be".

>Template: mediawiki/upgrade-1d5-adminpass
>Type: password
>Default:

Empty default, should probably be removed.

>_Description: Administrative password for mediawiki1.7:
> Please give the password for the account you specified.

This sentence should be rephrased.
You are asking the password for "the account I specified". However, I
haven't been asked anything related with mediawiki1.7. As the templates
has "1d5" in its name, I wonder if it's not just a typo, i.e. it should
be
  Administrative password for mediawiki1.5:

Cheers,
