Adding things file by file is a necessity, to remove uneeded files (LICENCE, 
COPYING), to place files at the correct place (usr/share, usr/doc, 
usr/mediawiki/maintenance, ...).

I agree with the fact that the script takes too long. However, the URI file can 
be a different one. You should be able to create a news URI file, add the 
initial URI to export in it and run the script against it.

In the future, I plan to split the current big file into a one file per package 
structure.
