[Pkg-mediawiki-devel] MW 1.19 for wheezy (was Re: [Mediawiki-distributors] LWN's discussion on WordPress and distributions)

Hi,

This is just a heads-up with regard to packaging for Mediawiki and its 
extensions in Wheezy.

Upstream recently confirmed that they will be moving to a quarterly 
release cycle and, as a result, potentially reduced security support. 
Following our concerns they are prepared to maintain 1.19 as an LTS 
version and we are therefore accelerating our efforts to get this into 
Wheezy. This includes a new source package for the math extension as it 
is no longer shipped in the core.

With this in mind please bear with us for bringing this work and the 
associated testing closer to the freeze than would otherwise be 
desirable, and we are happy to provide status information on request.
