Is this the case for all wikis, rather than just Asian languages? If that's
really so then perhaps we should take the opposite approach and have
mediawiki Recommend it, which would mean that it is installed by default
alongside MW in most cases.

Mark: is wikidiff2 appropriate for MW 1.19? 

Romain: if you have no objections, I will get wikidiff2 into shape for
Wheezy.
