I see… this looks like a combination of
– upgrade from old mediawiki/mediawiki-extensions
– dpkg refusing cowardly to replace symlinks to directories
– both packages shipping that extension nowadays
– missing preinst handling

Some cleanup is also needed… can you please share the output of
$ ls -lad /var/lib/mediawiki/extensions/Renameuser
on the affected system? If I’m right it’s a symbolic link somewhere.
