I'm not aware of any other packaging effort for SMW.

I might be interested in testing that, although I'm only doing
MW-related things at $dayjob, which has influence on my response
times. Having a quick test scenario, with which we could check
whether SMW works after installing and later upgrading, would
be nice.

How well would your SMW packaging integrate with MW as currently
packaged, especially with a real database (PostgreSQL) as backend?

If I can test your packages, I can sponsor uploads.
