Hmm...

The only thing I find that references a .la file that has *something*
to do with Mesa is the references to Mesa source.

Someone got creative and decided to put an autoconf'iguration for Mesa
on top of Mesa...  the file you are looking for is produced inside the
Xgl tree.  There's really little I can do here.

Let me see if I can figure something out...
