Are you running startmol as root? If you are not running it as root, you
have to either reconfigure it to be setuid by running "dpkg-reconfigure
mol" and answer yes to the setuid question or you have to run it as
root.

If you are already running it as root, this is very strange. It seems
that the mol kernel module is missing on your system although the
package which contains it is installed. Can you please send me the
output of the following commands:
# dpkg -s mol-modules-2.6.26-2-powerpc
# dpkg -L mol-modules-2.6.26-2-powerpc
# ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.26-2-powerpc/extra/
