IIRC we did have a different opinion: see the old version as having
never existed. However, you are right. Many people may have installed
the old packages just for fun, as I did a while ago. I have just added
conflicts to mono-assemblies.

Good. Maybe you have know-how to consistently replace the search
location for DLLs and .so plugins? I expect some policy nitpicker to
file a serious bug against mono-assemblies-* very soon.

Further, please have a look on the recent issue with libmint.
