It can run many tests and also run mcs to compile some tests (though it
can't bootstrap the libs yet). It's good enough for people to play with
it and fallabck to mint only when it doesn't work. I also would like
to get more exposure of the jit, so people can try it on different
setups and cpu than mine single system.

What is not so clear? The toplevel README in mcs/ says exactly what I
wrote. In mono there is code from many companies, not sure why Intel
would be a problem for you: the company doesn't matter, the license of
the software does.

Looking at the debian/dir, mono-assemblies-base seems to have all the
assemblies and mono-assemblies-arch doesn't have assemblies at all.
