[Pkg-mono-devel] Compiling on powerpc, mono-assemblies?

Think about what

apt-cache showsrc mono-assemblies-base

says, especially the first line. Yes, they do not come from the mono
source package (because there are only precompiled versions which would
be non-free or even non-distributable for Debian) but from mcs.
