Hi, I'm new to this list, so thought i'd say hello and give you some background. 

I have a long history with linux (1998) and my day job is 100% .net.  I have been working with C# since the MS betas in 2000. 

My interest is firstly to set up a development VM and understand whats required to package up the current MONO runtime and SDK tools…. i.e. the 101 basics. 

I had a stab at it over last christmas, but crashed and burned… then got caught up in some urgent work. 

This time around I have 3 months before the next project … so I'm hoping to make enough progress to be able to contribute to the outstanding task list. 

My special areas on interest are Legacy winforms, Runtime 4.5 (async) , MVC4/5 and EF6. because I have some substansial projects running on Azure that I'd like to see run on a local Debian box.   

I'm off to reread the docs - but any pointers to the not obvious info would be helpful,
