What I've done is disable the essdsp LD_PRELOAD hack, but _not_
installed the alsa one instead.

I haven't reviewed the corresponding alsa code, but risking the
stability of the web browser to make some (admittedly popular)
non-free application work slightly better with sound seems like a poor
default configuration.
