I have not yet installed the packages.

You should not package this as a native package. We need a diff.gz + an
orig.tar.gz instead of the tar.gz you produce.

In addition, I guess you are missing the transitional packages. You
should produce empty packages named exactly as those in sarge. for
instance, mozilla-mailnews would be an empty package that depends on
seamonkey-mailnews. For details, take a look how firefox and
thunderbird did the transition from mozilla-firefox to firefox and
mozilla-thunderbird to thunderbird.
