Hum, iceape uses whatever gtk input method module you configured (or
your system configured for you), so it should just use compose keys as
fine as any other gtk application. If it does not, then you probably
have a broken gtk setting.
Anyways, I'd recommend you to first try other gtk-based applications,
and see if it does the same, in which case I'll let gtk maintainers
guide you to have better settings.
