At a quick test indeed I seem to be unable to reproduce it with the
VESA driver. However it only suports 800x600 (instead of 1024x768) on
my setup and if I run the mga driver on 800x600 (without larger
virtual desktop[1]) I do not see the bug either.

If this is evidence enough of a X instead of a mozilla bug, feel free to
reassign, personally I really do not know.

[1] Switching down the resolution, while keeping the 1024x768 virtual
desktop does not make the glitch go away.
