No, it didn't happen for a very simple reason: the patch is huge and there
was no way we could introduce such a huge untested patch in iceweasel
and friends at the time because we were in a freeze for etch.

So, now etch is released, we could start applying the patch, probably,
but we also have others issues to deal with, and now Firefox 3 is coming,
it might not be worth the bother.

So here is my take: instead of spending time arguing and/or testing the
patch, let's just spend time on fixing issues we actually care about for
the very short term (like the gcc 4.2 issue, because it seems the default
gcc has now changed), and start packaging next upstream.
