Bug#505464: iceweasel crashes because cannot access directory .mozilla

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed answer.

The "crash" issue is being handled in another bug. Basically, iceweasel
doesn't handle very well the cases where something is not writeable. In
your case, it doesn't even crash, it only exits, but the result look the
same.

The rest of the issue doesn't make much sense to me. I wouldn't have
been very surprised if that happened with earlier versions of iceweasel,
like 2.0 or 1.5, but installing 3.0 shouldn't have created any problem.

Are you absolutely sure the .mozilla/firefox existed and was created as
root before you ever started iceweasel for the very first time ?

Would you be able to reproduce this if you'd try to download the 3.0.3-3
version again from http://stabile.debian.org:5001 ? (you'll also need
the corresponding xulrunner-1.9, most likely 1.9.0.3-something)

Thanks

Mike
