Are you saying that what happens is that when opening a link from some
application, iceweasel starts, opens the dialog for updates and then the
link doesn't open? If so, it doesn't happen for me even with version
3.5.

However, what does happen is that opening a link from some application
*while* iceweasel is starting and shows the dialog for updates, I get a
message about the fact that iceweasel is already running.
