found 631555 0.4.1-3
severity 631555 normal
forcemerge 631555 617940
thanks

I can play videos fine.

But I keep getting these error messages.

In iceweasel I even get three of them.

It sure takes up a lot of screen space.

All I know is it happen no matter if I use mplayer or
flashplugin-nonfree 1:2.8.3 / iceweasel or chromium.

So who should I reassign this bug to?

OK, guessing libvdpau1.

First let's see what happens when...
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libvdpau1{p} mplayer{a} (D: libvdpau1) vdpauinfo{a} (D: libvdpau1)

Chromium now gives:
[3:3:4940383078:ERROR:nss_util.cc(397)] Error initializing NSS without a persistent database: libsoftokn3.so: cannot open shared object file: Permission denied

I'll report that to them elsewhere.

But iceweasel gives no errors anymore!

So we see removing libvdpau1 fixes the problem.

However we sometimes still wish to use mplayer,
hence must install libvdpau1,
and hence must deal with those frivolous error messages!

In http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=611705#10 it says
"- remove all Debian *nvidia* packages"
# aptitude search ~i~nnvidia|wc -l
0

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=53144
# locate nvidia.ko|wc -l
0
That's because I always do things the Debian way and never install
libraries by hand anyway, that' aptitude's job. Plus I don't even know
what nv... nor libvdpau1 are all about, other than causing lots of error
messages on the shell window whilst I'm watching YouTube.
