Guidance on how to debug/get a backtrace for Iceweasel

Hi,

I've been getting a lot of crashes on Iceweasel on Debian Stable,
Squeeze. I suspect it's a flash/java and gdk issue as I get loads of
'Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead' warnings.

I've tried to find out what to do to get a backtrace, in order to submit
a bug report, or narrow down the cause myself, but have not easily found
up to date information.

When I run:
iceweasel --debugger

I get:

GNU gdb (GDB) 7.0.1-debian
Copyright (C) 2009 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
License GPLv3+: GNU GPL version 3 or later
<http://gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html>
This is free software: you are free to change and redistribute it.

and "show warranty" for details.
This GDB was configured as "i486-linux-gnu".
For bug reporting instructions, please see:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/gdb/bugs/>...
Reading symbols from /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin...(no debugging
symbols found)...done.
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]

{iceweasel window opens}

Program exited normally.
(gdb)

I have got iceweasel-dbg installed. I also have the latest flash via
flashplugin-nonfree.

I've tried various other versions of running this command, but don't get
a trace, I always get the (no debugging symbols found) message. Is that
right? In this case I just get the gdb prompt again.

It would be helpful to give some brief, clear, up to date info on how to
get a backtrace, perhaps on http://wiki.debian.org/Iceweasel -then you
may get more useful bug reports too.

Thanks for your work on these packages.

Best Wishes,
A
